New Obsession

A friend of mine recently bought a house in East Nashville. The east side, for those of you who don’t live in Nash-Vegas, is a very cool, up-and-coming part of the city. Lots of old houses with great character are being renovated and flipped but are still very affordable so its creating a young, hip, urban community that centers around the “5 Points” intersection where there are several bars and coffee shops and restaurants. Anyway, I went to see her place for the first time and was struck immediately by her “coffee table”. It was a cart, like this:

This table comes from Rehab Vintage but there are carts like this available all over the place if you go looking.

Have a great day everyone and please design responsibly ;)

Daylight Saving…

Ok, I’ll admit I loved the extra hour I got on Halloween night from the time change.. but the sun in my eyes at 5 am was something I was less enthused about.  Solution?  Clean, chic, and wonderfully energy-efficient shades.  Here’s how we use ‘em:

These of course are white and therefor letting in considerable light though filtering it. I like the way they use the darker ones in some of the pictures on the website. Learn more about them: http://www.hunterdouglas.com/photo-gallery.jsp?so=tn#/Product/47/Designer_Screen_Shades/

Peace out and please design responsibly :)

Jessica Davis in Nashville Lifestyles

Hey friends! check out the article on Jessica Davis in this month’s Nashville Lifestyles Magazine!  There is a ton of great advice for going green- specifically by repurposing vintage and found items.  It’s a great article and we are very proud.  Hope you’ll pick one up!

If a wonderful vintage piece or the paint just didn’t weather well, she suggests painting the entire piece with a white lacquer to give it that modern twist she’s so fond of: “You have to be willing to change the piece if you can’t maintain the original integrity, and when you do, you get this really eclectic, whimsical feel.”  She says.

Beautiful, Responsible and… BRAZILIAN!

Who says environmental responsibility has to be boring?

Brazilian design house Oficinaethos (www.oficinaethos.com.br) primarily uses certificated woods or lumber from demolition areas for their beautiful furniture and artwork. We’re in LOVE with this stuff!
